I am going to discuss on cloud computing today

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is a collection of online managed services (especially data storage and computing power) owned, run and maintained by a cloud provider, without direct active management from users. Users: websites, video streaming, developers, mobile Apps, large organizations.e.t.c

Types of cloud computing

1) SaaS (software as a service): A product that is run and managed by the service provider. It just works and remains available. It is for end users (customers) e.g Salesforce, email, office 365 etc

Characteristics of SaaS: (I) Managed from a central location (ii) Hosted ona remote server (III) Accessible in a Bowser( sometimes even when the user is offline) (iv) users are not responsible for hardware or software update

2) PaaS (platform as a service): focus on the deployment and management of your apps. It is for software developers e.g Heroku, Google engines

Characteristics of PaaS: (I) Builds on virtualization technology, so resources can easily be scaled up or down. (ii) provides a variety of services to assist with the development, testing and deployment of apps. (III) Accessible to numerous users via the same development application.(iv) integrates web services and databases.

3)IaaS (infrastructure as a service): the basic building blocks for cloud IT. Provides access to networking features, computers and data storage space. It for system Admins, network Architects. E.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS, Oracle cloud e.t.c.

Characteristics of IaaS: (I) Resources are available as a service (ii) cost varies depending on consumption (III) services are highly scalable (iv) multiple users share a single piece of hardware (v) Organization retain control of the infrastructure (vi) dynamic and flexible
